Jody Redhage Ferber has been commissioned to compose new chamber ensemble works inspired by Madison Square Garden's 5 notable horticultural collections and its ancient trees (MSP is the the only accredited arboretum in Manhattan). During EcoTones Concerts @ Madison Square Park on June 6, 2026 from 2:00-4:00pm, the EcoTones Ensemble will premiere the new chamber works during a "Music Trail" through Madison Square Park, with chamber ensembles sited alongside the plants for which the pieces are written. Immediately following the Music Trail, all performers and audience convene in the park's central Oval Lawn for a full-ensemble set featuring all 18-members of the EcoTones Ensemble with repertoire honoring MSP's role as a safe haven for remarkable flora & fauna, and an honoring of the daily perseverance and problem-solving of its committed horticultural staff-heros. EcoTones Concerts @ MSP celebrates this free public green space in which native and endangered plant and tree species and their symbiotic flora currently thrive, despite stacked odds of the park's extreme urban setting. The performance is free and open to the public with support from MSPC and NYSCA. For more information please visit madisonsquarepark.org.
